Interoperating wireless sensor networks

Wireless networking is opening new opportunities for new solutions and services. In order to make the most out of new technologies, it often makes a lot of sense to combine several technologies and protocols to achieve the best solution.

ZigBee and Z-Wave
New wireless networking protocols are emerging and some of them have already attracted a number of vendors and suppliers that offer solutions using these protocols. Often the implementation of these new wireless networks is restricted by their limited radio range and their difficulties in their interoperability and the lack of a true and reliable multi hopping.

At the same time, these technologies have created a significant number of sensor integrations which could be used in many environments, if the disadvantages of the existing technologies could be eliminated.

ScatterWeb offers a network (hardware and software) that is ideally suited to work in a “mixed mode” with other networking protocols in order to increase their reach and usability.

RFID
RFID technology will grow rapidly into more and more segments of everyday life in the near future. A lot of goods and assets that are equipped with RFID tags are in remote locations and using a wired RFID reader to gather data from these tags causes difficulties and inconveniences. Using a ScatterWeb network as the data transport network for RFID information solves these issues immediately.
